Rashes

A rash is a change of the skin which affects its texture, color, or appearance. A rash may be in one part of the body, or affect all the skin. It may even cause the skin to change color, itch, become warm, bumpy, dry, cracked or blistered, swell and may be painful. The reasons, and therefore treatments for rashes, vary widely. Diagnosis must take into account such things as the appearance of the rash, other symptoms, what the patient may have been exposed to, occupation, and occurrence in family members. The diagnosis may confirm any number of conditions.

A rash is not a diagnosis, it simply means an outbreak of skin inflammation and effects the look and feel of the skin. Therefore, treatments for rashes vary based on what caused the outbreak of a rash. Generally, topical creams may be used to treat a rash or antihistamine to reduce the inflammation and itching. See a healthcare provider to understand what is the primary cause of the rash so you can receive the treatment that is best for you.
